Client Spotlight: Dream Defenders
This month, we want to highlight Dream Defenders for our client spotlight. It was an honor for us to cater to several of their monthly lunches! The Dream Defenders, born in the wake of Trayvon Martin’s tragic shooting, have emerged as a potent force in the fight for social justice and equality. Their mission, to develop the next generation of radical leaders and create a world free from oppression and harm, has led to impactful initiatives addressing the school-to-prison pipeline, criminal justice reform, voting rights, and international solidarity. Their grassroots activism has influenced policy changes and empowered communities, leaving a lasting legacy of empowerment and advocacy in the pursuit of a fairer society. The month of August was Black Business Month, and we want to give a huge thank you to Frank Crum and The City of Tampa for highlighting Livy O’s and other black businesses on @tampakind. Setting up the interview and gathering the B-roll at our new Cristo Rey location was more fun than expected!
Tiana’s Tea

Tiana’s Tea is a women empowerment organization that brings women together from all racial and socioeconomic backgrounds to focus on healing mentally and emotionally, improving self-image, exposing women to high quality social functions to network and more! Steaming Pots
Our beloved Karene bartended at Steaming Pots, a West African restaurant on Waters avenue. It may appear small in size, but it’s big on vibes and flavor! Once you’re inside, there is a door that takes you to The Afro Lounge. The African art, patio space, and Skratch Cartel on the turntables temporarily takes you away from Tampa and immerses you into a night in West Africa.
Livy O’s Superhero Spotlight: Linda Bryant
Joining the team in February 2021, Ms. Linda has always had a passion for working with food. She is the loving work auntie that we all need, as she is always exuding warmth and kindness. What she enjoys most about her role as our Meal Service Lead is “the satisfaction of knowing that although a lot of what we serve to our students is the only meal they get, it’s going to be of wholesome quality.” While preparing food, she also acknowledges that people “eat with their eyes”, ensuring that the presentation of the food is as excellent as it tastes. Congratulations to Linda Bryant for being selected for Livy O’s superhero spotlight of September!
Linda Bryant, affectionally called “Ms. Linda”, is a true reflection and embodiment of “P.R.I.D.E.”, our core values: She executes daily with purpose and always encourages the team to have a GREAT day. She builds a relationship with every team member. She is an example of integrity. She has been dedicated to Livy O’s since she started with the organization.
